In April 2018 American Bridge claimed that the PAC Rick Scott was the chairman of accepted donations from “private equity executives.” This is against the law. The 2010 Securities and Exchange Commission rules forbid financial firms from funding elections of public officials who influence state pension investments. End Citizens United is determined to see justice done. Read more news about the group on USA Today.
These campaign donations were vacuumed up by the New Republican Pac, of which Governor Scott is the chair of. The firms in question also benefited from over $3 million in fees from the Florida investors. The SEC ruling protecting decisions on pension investments front political bias provides End Citizens United with its grounds for filing charges against Governor Scott.
Scott is no stranger to skirting election law. After he announced his candidacy for Bill Nelson’s Senate seat, he faced complaints from the Federal Election Commission for breaking laws. End Citizens United is determined to see justice done. Adam Bozzi, the Communications Director for End Citizens United predicts only failure for Governor Scott’s blatant attempts to “manipulate the law to serve himself.” He also believes in the voters of Florida, who will see through his “shady political tricks.”
The election between Senator Bill Nelson and Governor Scott is part of the GOP’s hopes for maintaining control of Congress under the increasingly unpopular President Trump. Trump has spurned renewed interest in Democratic voters, compelling them to turn out at the polls in droves.
The GOP and the Democratic Party are both relying heavily on Florida voters to gain the majority in both houses of Congress in 2018. The Democratic party is struggling to hold on to Bill Nelson’s Senate seat, and to flip at least two seats from the Republicans in Florida.
End Citizens United is working hard keeping an eye on the elections in order to ensure a fair and honest result for Florida voters. Both parties are expected to spend record amounts of money, with Governor Scott, a millionaire, expected to dip into his own pockets. View the group’s profile on Politifact.com.
Thor Halvorssen is the leader of the Human Rights Foundation, and he has done quite a lot of work to ensure that people around the world have the rights they deserve. Anyone who has been oppressed will have a home with the HRF, and Thor has done much work to ensure his message gets out. This article explains how Thor has gone after conservatives in attempting to explain how Bernie Sanders thinks.
#1: His Work In Venezuela
Thor knows what it looks like when a government has too much control, and he worked for the government in Venezuela where there was massive corruption. He found the corruption, and he left the government for New York. He founded the HRF because he wanted to help people, and he did not want to be held down by what he saw as a government that was run improperly.
Thor was brave enough to go on Fox News to explain the form of socialism Bernie believes in, and he had to explain why this is much different from what people are accustomed to. He explained that this form of government may be done quite well, and half his family is from Scandinavia where this type of government works quite well. His message is important, and it explains how the country may progress. The HRF is a place where everyone may receive assistance from oppression, and Thor Halvorssen is doing work that will reach over borders to help people who are desperate. They will be given a place to hide that is safe for them, and they will see services coming from the HRF that will ensure their safety. Thor’s activism stretches form the basics of government the way people are treated in all the corners of the world.
The well known human rights activist and film producer Thor Halvorssen has used an interview with Fox Business host Trish Regan to give his thoughts on the benefits and drawbacks of socialism. In the U.S. the political ideology of socialism has so far failed to gain a foothold in the public consciousness, but has recently seen a rise in popularity after Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders declared himself a Democratic Socialist.
Trish Regan questioned Thor Halvorssen about the definition of socialism and how it is used in different areas of the world, including his home nation of Venezuela. The interview revealed Thor Halvorssen agrees with Bernie Sanders views that socialism can be of benefit when it is combined with more mainstream policies used by a liberal leaning government; Thor Halvorssen revealed Sanders is correct that various European nations have successfully seen socialist policies used to benefit the nation.
Halvorssen not only looked to explain his own views on how socialism can be used to benefit a nation, such as happened in Venezuela for a number of decades, but also looked at the problems it can cause; however, Thor Halvorssen also revealed Venezuela had seen major problems with the hijacking of the policies by officials using them to benefit themselves. Halvorssen has seen how the people of his own nation have suffered at the hands of leaders hiding their real ambitions behind the ideology of socialism.
Despite the concerns he maintains over the use of socialism in its general terms Halvorssen believes Bernie Sanders is the best qualified candidate to become U.S. President in 2016. Over the course of the campaign Halvorssen has become concerned about the close links Hilary Clinton has maintained with nations linked to human rights abuses; in the Republican race the racially charged comments of Donald Trump have made it impossible for the film producer to back his candidacy.
